The Five One - Monsters Mutants Vampires

Rare I listen to a tune in my inbox within the week that I get it…but this crew has a highly anticipated album dropping soon, and this is the second single from that record. It’s an insightful blend of sounds…a little Nas, a little Gorillaz, and a little of that band that’s playing live behind the tiki bar on the remote island you’re vacationing on. This looks to be a big year for The Five One.

Gorillaz - Crystalised (The xx cover)

This is a beautiful rendition of a beautiful song, stripped naked and laying on a plastic beach. Apparently this was put together for a BBC session, and you can check out the video of the recording here.

Gorillaz - Stylo (Live) [rightclickdownload]

I’m a huge Gorillaz fan, because the incredible music they put out is in a way a product of an artistic experiment. The band is an experiment that’s swept popular culture.  Anyway, this is a live studio performance on NPR, which you can listen to here.
